I woke up to spring! 70 degrees, a fresh rain, and a rainbow. I was not about to let the world spoil it, so NO teevee, no radio, no crap all day long. Now that felt good. I'm still singing.

How to move:
1. Give 1/2 of your stuff away to friends and family. They will love you for your generousity.
2. Give 1/4 to Salvation Army.Peeps without money need nice things too.
3. Pack up the remaining stuff.
Moving is about a fresh start, isn't it? No sense taking too much previous life.

Today I stopped at a confectionery to pick up chocolates for a friend. As I was looking around the store a guy about 16 wandered out of the kitchen section. He came around the counter and was staring at me. I gave him a smile and a "hi." He said, "Are you a Girl Scout?" "Nope...a travelgirl." "I like your jacket. I've never seen anything like it."
Too funny. Now I am the world's oldest Girl Scout.

The way a person moves is very individual. Some attract more light than others. And all taste vastly different from one another. Nice, isn't it?

A Worrisome Dilemma

A few brief ideas on how we started walking down this dark path? I am sure that there are others who could dissect this far more eloquently than I can, but I want to give it a shot. Here goes…

It feels to me like we took the first plunge during the election. The counting of the vote became a bone of contention. Do we count? Or don’t we? In the end it became not about who would win, Bush or Gore, neither particularly good candidates, in my opinion, but it became about the process. The most terrifying moment of the campaign occurred when the Republicans cheered loudly every time the vote count in Florida was stopped. They stopped the process and the process is everything. It is what we are known for, it is what we chide other countries about, Third World countries, for preventing (the heathens!) Had this happened somewhere else our papers would have been full of news telling of wrongdoing at the ballot box.

The Republicans messed with the process. And even more tragically the once-venerated Supreme Court did not uphold America’s ideals.

Right then our country took a MAJOR hit.

Now to the event of 9.11.01. This was the second hit. Lunatics showing us how vulnerable we are. People that live free are always at risk.

Now we live in a world where we have vowed to fight terrorism in a war lead by a possible (we never did find out) president. One that, according to news items I have read in the paper, may be getting paybacks for his father’s actions in the Gulf War. We are bombing a already war-torn country where people wear flimsy cotton clothing year-round, people without shoes who walk barefoot in the snow, people that ride horseback and live in caves, people unfortunate enough to live in a country without oil resources that we need.

Rooting out terrorists will take forever. The scoundrels are in many countries including our own. It is a long dark path we have chosen. Shouldn’t we also go after the poison weirdoes who send out white powder? Oh, and men in this country beat their wives (and some women beat their husbands). Let’s put all of them in front of a firing squad. Be a good example for the world. Let’s clean up the universe.

Here in our country we have lost 6th amendment rights. We have lost security and safety. Our bright world grows dim. GW Bush signed a new law that protects the presidential papers way beyond the 12 sealed years of the past. How come? A government that hides and citizens that live in fear point to a vastly different America.

Why the necessity for taking away Americans rights?

And please, by all means, go SHOPPING. Keep that Capitalist ball rolling. No wait.

That’s not the message.

Anthrax and other possible biotox willies. Get your duct tape. Stay on the main floor of your house. Seal yourself in. Listen to maybe, could be, possibly alerts on radio and teevee. Steady now.

No. Enjoy the holidays. FLY.

Are you as confused as I am?

P.S. I had to go back in and delete some of the things I said. I am not sure if 1st Amendment rights are still intact. Happy Halloween and have a lovely Thanksgiving.
